My Story: Why I Became a Bookkeeper  

A few years ago, my family started a small detergent business. We were busy - purchasing for our business, and selling to our customers. Money was coming in and products were moving. But then my father asked a question that changed everything: 

"What's happening with the business? Are we making a profit or a loss? Where is the money?"

 Even though we knew we were profiting from what we sold, we had no clear picture of how the business was really doing. So I decided to investigate. I counted every piece of inventory, tracked the cash we had on hand, and documented who owed us money. Then I created a simple financial statement. 

That simple statement revealed everything - where our money was, what we were owed, and most importantly, the consequences of poor record-keeping. Looking back, that statement was simple, but it gave us what we needed: clarity.

 That experience taught me something powerful: You cannot grow what you cannot see. We were running a business blind and had no visibility into the financial reality. My Professional Background

Before becoming a bookkeeper, I spent 7 years in banking and financial services, with a focus on business lending and loan analysis.

In that role, I:

- Reviewed hundreds of business financial statements for loan applications

- Analyzed business risk and cash flow

- Verified business assets and financial documentation

- Helped business owners understand what lenders need to see

This experience taught me something critical: Clean, accurate bookkeeping is not just about compliance or tax time - it's about opportunity.
